The Broken Toys

A toymaker received orders and fulfilled them promptly.

But some toys came back broken — dropped by couriers, damaged in transit, assembled with defects.

Rather than throw them away or let them pile in the workshop, the toymaker kept a repair bin. Once a week, he examined each broken toy.

Some could be fixed and resent. Some became parts for other toys. Some were truly beyond saving.

Nothing was lost without examination.
