The Collapsed Mine

A mine collapsed with workers inside. Rescuers could dig through one of three tunnels.

They didn't know which tunnel held survivors.

The foreman chose one tunnel and committed all resources to it.

"What about the others?" his crew asked.

"If we dig three tunnels slowly, everyone dies. If we dig one quickly, someone might live."

They found survivors. The other tunnels had been empty.
