The Dishonest Partner

A merchant discovered his new partner had lied about a small matter — an inventory count, slightly inflated.

He could overlook it. It was small. The partnership was otherwise promising.

He ended the partnership immediately.

"Over such a small thing?" friends asked.

"Small lies reveal large ones. I'd rather lose a month than lose a year learning what else he's hidden."
