A merchant was expelled from a trading guild for fraud.

The guild notified all ports: this merchant no longer had guild privileges. His letters of credit were void. His contracts were not backed by the guild.

The merchant tried to trade on his old reputation. No one accepted his paper. His access had been fenced off.
