The Healer's Kit

A healer carried a full surgical kit, a simpler set of tools, and a knife.

"Why the knife?" an apprentice asked. "You have better instruments."

"The best instrument is the one you have. If I lose my kit, I have my tools. If I lose my tools, I have my knife. If I lose my knife—" he held up his hands.
