The Incompatible Metals

A blacksmith received an order for a tool combining two metals he'd never joined before.

He could attempt it and hope for the best. Or he could test a small sample first.

He tested. The metals didn't bond properly. He refused the commission.

A blacksmith who attempted the full piece produced a tool that broke on first use — and injured the user.
