The Letter Carrier

A letter carrier had three routes to the capital: the main road, the forest path, and the river.

He always planned to use the main road. He always knew the other two.

Most days, the main road was fastest. But when the bridge washed out, he took the forest. When the forest flooded, he took the river.

His letters always arrived. His competitors' letters arrived when conditions were perfect.
