The Master and the Students

A master craftsman trained his students to follow his methods exactly. They worked as extensions of his hands.

When the master died, the students found they could only do what he had taught. They had never learned to adapt.

Another master taught principles, not procedures. His students' work varied. Some was worse than his. Some was better.

When he died, his students kept creating.
