The Merchant's Bad Coin Marks

A merchant couldn't test every coin for counterfeits.

He learned certain quick marks that genuine coins never had. If a coin passed the quick test, it was probably good. If it failed, he tested more carefully.

The quick test was fast but occasionally suspicious of good coins. It never approved a known counterfeit.
