A foreign dignitary arrived at court. His customs were different — different bows, different greetings, different forms of address.

The king didn't learn every culture's protocols. He employed a master of ceremonies who knew them all.

When the dignitary arrived, the master of ceremonies handled the introduction. The king simply acted himself.
