The Shared Lookout

Ten ships in a harbor each posted their own lookout.

They could have pooled resources: one lookout on the tallest mast, reporting to all ships.

But each captain wanted his own. The harbor had ten lookouts all seeing the same horizon.

The wise captains shared. The others duplicated.
