Three shepherds shared a pasture. Each kept his own count of his sheep.

When they met monthly, they reconciled counts.

"My count shows you owe me two sheep."

"My count shows I gave you three."

They examined the evidence. They reached agreement. The records were updated.

Between meetings, records disagreed. At meetings, they converged.
