The Simultaneous Oath

A guild required new members to be vouched for by existing members.

Both the candidate and the sponsor had to swear oaths. Neither oath was valid without the other.

The guildmaster asked the sponsor: "Do you vouch?" Yes.

The guildmaster asked the candidate: "Do you pledge?" Yes.

Only then were both oaths recorded.
