The Temple Offering

Worshippers left offerings at a temple. A priest recorded each one.

One worshipper left an offering, then returned later to pray. The priest, seeing the same face, recorded another offering.

The temple's records showed twice the offerings it had received.

A reformed practice recorded the offering at the time it was made, marking it complete. A second visit by the same person added nothing to the count.
