The Double Payment

A merchant sent a payment to a supplier. The messenger was slow returning.

Worried, the merchant sent the payment again.

Both payments arrived. The supplier kept both.

"You paid twice," the supplier said when confronted.

"I meant to pay once."

"You should have sent a payment that could only be received once."
