The Gardener's Walk

A gardener walked her garden each dawn.

Not to work — just to look. She checked leaves for spots, stems for weakness, soil for moisture.

Most days, she found nothing. Some days, she found early blight, caught before it spread.

Her neighbor checked the garden only at harvest. By then, the blight had taken half the crop.
