The General's Orders

A general didn't give orders verbally alone. Every order was written before it was given.

If a messenger was killed, another copy existed. If officers disputed what was commanded, the written order resolved it. If the battle went wrong, the record showed what had been intended.

Written first, executed second. The record survived the chaos.
