The Healer's Dosage
A healer treated a fever with medicine. The patient didn't improve.
She could give more medicine immediately, or she could wait.
"The body needs time to respond," she said. "If I give more too soon, I overwhelm it. If I wait too long, the fever wins. I must space my interventions and increase the time between them if each fails to work."
She waited an hour. Then two hours. Then four.
On the third dose, timed with space for the body to respond, the fever broke.
