The New Road

An old road was crumbling, but travelers still needed passage.

Engineers didn't close the old road to build a new one. They built the new road in sections alongside the old.

As each section of new road opened, traffic shifted to it. Eventually, the old road carried no traffic and was abandoned.

The transition was gradual. Travel never stopped.
