The Regularly Raided Village

A village was raided by bandits once a year.

The villagers complained of their misfortune.

But they also hid valuables well, trained their young to scatter and regroup, kept emergency stores outside the village, and rebuilt quickly.

A neighboring village was never raided — until the year it was razed completely. They had no practice at survival.
